NCA recently participated in PARK(ing) Day Providence by transforming the metered parking space in front of their Westminster Street office into a temporary Parklet called Quahog National Park.
The Rhode Island Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (RIASLA) and the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIAri) collaborated with the City of Providence’s Downtown Improvement District to bring PARK(ing) Day to Providence.
This year, PARK(ing) Day Providence had 32 Parklets in Downtown, West Side, East Side and a protected bike lane on Broadway. Parklet designers worked with local businesses bringing enthusiasm and energy to the area. while being sensitive to the needs of shopkeepers and their customers. Parklet sponsorships accounted for individual parking meter revenue for the day.
